Day five- Paperwork and Pool Day

18 07 2011

We completed the long morning of paperwork. It was relatively painless. Our interview was conducted in a group setting and the interpreter was a very LOUD man. So, everything from our age, annual income and reasons for adoption were projected across the room. Just not my idea of fun. But that is over and she is our little blessing. Then we headed off to explore the town and find a local grocery store. (Don’t worry Mom..we had a hotel card and guides phone number in case we got lost!) Our afternoon was spent in the pool. Melody DOES NOT like to swim. In her defense, the indoor pool was freezing!? I totally understand why she did not want to play in cold water. We were able to spend some time with another family who is adopting a beautiful 12-year-old girl. It was fun to relax and let the children plus Dad, of course play in the pool.

Melody has been happy most of today. She only gets upset when I try to take her to the restroom. I am not sure why but she does not want to go. She also is painfully shy around strangers especially large groups of people. Today our guide said, “Are you sure she can talk?” The funniest part is that once we get in our room she just chatters away in Chinese. Today we enjoyed listening to her repeat our English words. She’s making progress in communication. Our day was not too hurried and relaxing after the paperwork was over and I think that we all needed a day like this!

Your sweet comments and emails are keeping us going each morning and afternoon! Thank you so much for praying! We really feel all the prayers daily. We look forward to introducing you to this adorable little girl. Good Night from Hohhot, China!

It’s been so great seeing your smiling faces in the pictures, it almost makes up for missing your smiling faces for bagels yesterday. I showed off some pics to the other Brueggers girls and we all agree: She is beautiful and we miss you! Enjoy the travels, your first wonderful days with your new family member, and come home safely!
